French Onion Soup

I have always been picky about my soups.  For a long time it was only ramen or lipton for me.  Now I love a great wonton soup or french onion.  French onion soup is the newest addition to my palate and it has stretched me and what I put in my soup.

Serving for 2

Needs:

1 yellow onion
3 tablespoons butter
4 slices (deli) swiss cheese
3 cups beef broth
1/4 -1/2 cup white wine
1 teaspoon garlic
cracked pepper to taste
3 tablespoons worceshire sauce
1 loaf french bread

turn oven to 350 degrees
slice your onion into thin strips
in a large pot saute onion, garlic and butter on med heat until onion is golden and wilted
add beef broth, white wine, worceshire sauce and pepper to the pot.
bring to a boil and then turn down the heat and simmer for about 8 minutes.
While sauteing your onion slice your french bread into slices and lightly toast them in the oven.
In 2 oven safe bowls poor your broth and onion into the bowls that are sitting on a cookie/oven sheet.
place one slice of bread in each bowl and then cover your bread and bowl with 2 slices of cheese each.
place bowls on sheet in the oven until cheese is melted but not bubbling.
Serve soup with the rest of your french bread slices and enjoy!
